Turkey's unemployment rate rises to 15.8 percent in March

ISTANBUL - Turkey's unemployment rate jumped to 15.8 percent in the three months through April when compared with the same period last year, according to official data released on Monday. (UPDATED)

The labor force participation rate from February to April was calculated as 46.5 percent, according to the figures released on Monday by the Turkish Statistic Institute, or TURKSTAT.
The unemployment rate stands at 18 percent in urban and 11 percent in rural regions, the figures showed.Â
The number of jobless reached 3,776,000, and increased of 1,244,000.
The jobless rate hit a record high of 16.1 percent in the three months through March.   Â
