ISTANBUL - A new political stability index ranks Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as one of the two politicians who are destabilizing Turkey most and notes two ministers’ positive contributions to the country’s political stability.

According to the Political Stability Index released by S Informatics and Counseling Company, which regularly rates the performance of governments and politicians, Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Şahin and Defense Minister Vecdi Gönül are the two politicians who contributed most to the country’s political stability. National Education Minister Hüseyin Çelik and Erdoğan are the two who destabilize the country most.

The 2009 intermediary report took hundreds of parameters into account in its ratings of politicians’ performances in terms of their impact on the country’s stability, including the contribution of ministers to Parliament, their harmony with the Cabinet and government, and their command over their duty area. The report argues that the Cabinet has exhibited a decrease in performance since it was founded.

Şahin’s performance before the Constitutional Court’s verdict on the potential closure of the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, positively affected his rating.

State ministers Egemen Bağış and Nimet Çubukçu followed Çelik and Erdoğan in the index as politicians harming the stability of the country.
