Dutch tourist situation still in a critical state

ISTANBUL - A Dutchman remains in a coma after being beaten unconscious outside the famous restaurant "360" last week. Treatment continued yesterday at Taksim’s German hospital.

The Dutchman and his German girlfriend came to Turkey on vacation and had reserved a table at the fancy 360 restaurant for Nov. 2.
After the 500 euro meal, the man reportedly refused to pay the 12 euro coat check fee, whereupon three bodyguards entered an elevator with the couple on their way to the ground floor and then assaulted the man.
The man was taken to intensive care at the German hospital suffering fluid retention in the brain. The family of the man arrived in Turkey after learning of the situation. The man’s girlfriend and family will stay in Turkey until he recovers.
Yesterday hospital officials were tight-lipped about the man’s condition and said family had asked reporters to respect the family’s privacy.
